Dr. Christine M. Litwin is a board certified anatomic and clinical pathologist with nationally recognized expertise in clinical immunology and molecular microbiology. Her research is focused in the area of emerging infectious diseases and the development and evaluation of laboratory diagnostic assays. She has published over 90 scientific papers and book chapters, is on several national committees, and serves as a co-editor of the American Society for Microbiology Manual of Molecular and Clinical Immunology. Prior to coming to MUSC Health, Dr. Litwin was interim chief of the division of clinical pathology in 2014 and the director of clinical immunology and microbiology at Georgia Regents University from 2011 to 2014. She served as the director of microbial immunology and the associate director of immunology at the University of Utah from 1993 to 2010. She received her fellowship training at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital and her medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. John Metcalf is a surgical pathologist and a dermatopathologist. He is responsible for the microscopic diagnosis of melanoma on skin biopsies and evaluation of surgical specimens related to the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. Other duties include the training of students, residents, and fellows in the evaluation and diagnosis of melanocytic lesions, benign and malignant, (as well as in the evaluation of other cutaneous neoplasms and inflammatory skin diseases). He is the director of the dermatopathology section (pathology and laboratory medicine) and is professor of pathology and dermatology.

Dr. David Lewin is a nationally recognized anatomic and clinical pathologist with subspecialty interest in gastrointestinal (including esophageal), liver and pancreatic pathology. His clinical responsibilities include analysis of gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic and pulmonary pathology tissue biopsies and surgical resections. Dr. Lewin is the director of gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology. He participates in the thoracic, gastrointestinal and liver multidisciplinary tumor boards. He actively participates in pulmonary and gastrointestinal clinical trials.Dr. Lewin has a number of administrative roles both at MUSC and with national societies. He is the past president of the Gastrointestinal Pathology Society and is on the board of directors of the American Society of Clinical Pathology. He is one of the vice-chairs of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at MUSC. He serves on a numerous committees including the chair of the Institutional Review Board 3 (IRB 3) and the promotion and tenure committee for the university.

Dr. Lynne V. Abruzzo is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Division of Clinical Pathology. She is certified in Clinical Cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics. She is also certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and in the subspecialty of Hematology by the American Board of Pathology. After completing her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Chicago, Dr. Abruzzo did pathology residency training at the University of Michigan. She completed fellowship training in Hematopathology at the National Cancer Institute, in Clinical Cytogenetics at Baylor College of Medicine, and in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics at the University of Michigan. Her clinical research is focused on identifying and characterizing new cytogenomic abnormalities, and diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in hematologic malignancies. She is the author of more than 170 peer-reviewed journal articles, and has given numerous presentations at national and international meetings in her areas of expertise.

Dr. Conrad Williams is the medical director of the MUSC Children's Hospital interdisciplinary palliative care program, which provides palliative medicine services to patients facing life-threatening illnesses and their families. Prior to joining the faculty at MUSC, he served as medical director for the PANDA Palliative Care Team at Children's National Health System in Washington, DC. He also was the medical director for Chesapeake Kids, the pediatric team at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Maryland.A native of New Orleans, Dr. Williams received a BA in history at the University of Richmond and attended Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed pediatrics residency at MUSC and then a pediatric hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio under the leadership of Dr. Sarah Friebert. His clinical interests include medical communication, home-based palliative medicine visits

Dr. Cain Green is an interventional radiologist at MUSC. He was awarded a scholarship to attend Sewanee: The University of the South where he double majored in Music and Chemistry. He then received his medical degree from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN and went on to complete a general surgery internship and diagnostic radiology residency at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. As a radiology resident, he was selected to be chief resident.





Dr. Green then completed his training in interventional radiology at Yale University where he learned from world experts in various areas of interventional radiology. After finishing training, he performed diagnostic and interventional radiology in Pensacola, FL for 3 years. During his time in Florida, Dr. Green performed the first thoracic duct embolization, percutaneous biliary endoscopy, percutaneous jejunostomy, and prostate artery embolization at a large referral hospital in addition to significantly growing the oncology practice.





Dr. Green is excited to join the incredible interventional radiology team at MUSC. He feels honored to be involved in the care of cancer patients and will be offering the full spectrum of cancer care ranging from biopsy (for diagnosis), port or central line placement (for chemotherapy), ablation or embolization (for tumor treatment), and fracture stabilization or nerve block/ablation (for cancer-related pain relief).





Dr. Green will also be offering a variety of non-cancer procedures including prostate artery embolization for benign prostate enlargement, dialysis access maintenance, vertebral body augmentation for spinal fractures, a variety of procedures for liver disease, and many others.





Dr. Green will see patients in the West Ashley Medical Pavilion clinic.

Dr. Tiffany G. Baker is a pathologist currently participating in a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She began her career as a marine biologist who later became interested in researching human health and disease. Eventually she became interested in clinical medicine, and is currently practicing general surgical pathology with a special interest in neuropathology.Dr. Baker is a native of Charleston, SC, and she is passionate about serving her lifelong community. She attended MUSC for graduate school, medical school, and medical residency training. In addition, Dr. Baker maintains several society memberships, including American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), College of American Pathologists (CAP), United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), South Carolina Society of Pathologists (SCSP), and American Medical Association (AMA).Throughout her training, Dr. Baker has maintained an interest in teaching and research, and she has received awards for research presentations both within MUSC and at national meetings. The most recent was the Best Resident Paper Award, Pathology and Biology Section, granted by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. In addition she was recognized by ASCP for standing out from her peers in both medical school (Academic Excellence and Achievement in Pathology Gold Award) and residency (Resident Representative Leadership Award).
