Ari R Berg, MD

Ari Berg, M.D., is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon at Hackensack University Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. He specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, as well as treatment of complex spine conditions such as spinal tumors, scoliosis and revision surgery. He is among the few spine surgeons in the U.S. trained in both endoscopic techniques and complex spine deformity surgery.
Dr. Berg earned his MD, MBA and bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, where he graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he served as Chief Resident and received awards for excellence in clinical care, research, and leadership. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at Stanford University.
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences on the development of novel surgical technologies, as well as the cost-effectiveness and outcomes of spine surgery.
Dr. Berg takes a conservative, patient-centered approach, emphasizing non-operative treatment whenever appropriate. When surgery is indicated, he utilizes minimally invasive, motion-preserving techniques to restore patients’ function and quality of life.
