As the new Division Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Lee F. Peng, M.D., PhD, plans to enhance and expand gastroenterology and hepatology services throughout the region. Dr. Peng specializes in providing advanced care for liver diseases, as well as performing endoscopic procedures. He has conducted extensive research on hepatitis infection and treatment, funded by the National Institute of Health and private research foundations.
Dr. Peng graduated from Harvard College, Summa Cum Laude in Chemistry. He went on to obtain his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he was a part of the M.D.- Ph.D Program, earning a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology alongside his M.D. degree. He completed post-graduate medical training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, where he completed his internal medicine residency, as well as his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship training. He remained at Massachusetts General Hospital after completing his training, where he served as an attending gastroenterologist and hepatologist, as well as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Peng went on to serve as Chief of Hepatology, Medical Director of Liver Transplantation, and Professor of Medicine at Temple University, before being appointed Division Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
