Nitesh V Patel, M.D., is a board certified neurosurgeon with advanced fellowship training in the treatment of brain and spinal tumors. Dr. Patel is the co-director of the Neurosurgical Oncology program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Patel was a Surgical Neuro-Oncology Fellow and Clinical Instructor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, training under Dr. Ricardo J. Komotar. He also completed a skull base and neuro-oncology fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York while training under Dr. David Langer and Dr. John Boockvar. Dr. Patel completed his medical education at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, graduating with AOA Honors and being inducted into the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Society.

With his advanced training, Dr. Patel specializes in a number of procedures including resection of primary and metastatic brain tumors, awake motor and language mapping, Laser Induced Thermal Therapy (LITT), stereotactic radiation therapy planning of brain tumors, and spinal tumor resection. Dr. Patel is one of the few neurosurgeons worldwide to be well-versed with the Zap-X Platform for radiosurgery.
Passionate about research and academia, Dr. Patel has given lectures at several national neurosurgical meetings and has published over 100 peer reviewed articles in neurosurgical journals focusing on Intra-Arterial Chemotherapy for Newly Diagnosed High Grade Glioma, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for Brain Tumor Patients and Laser Induced Thermal Therapy for Recurrent/Treatment Resistant Brain Tumors. He is a member of several professional societies including the American Board of Neurological Surgery, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Society of Neuroscience.
