Shadi Yaghi, M.D., FAHA, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vascular neurologist who specializes in stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders.

Dr. Yaghi is the chair of Neurology at Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Previously, he served as the co-director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center and director of research at the Neurovascular Center at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.

Inspired by his family's experiences with heart disease and epilepsy, Dr. Yaghi knew from a young age that he wanted to make a difference in patients' lives. He finds it particularly rewarding to witness patients recover from major neurological symptoms thanks to timely and effective treatments. Today, Dr. Yaghi dedicates his practice to reversing the effects of stroke through acute treatments, working with patients to prevent future strokes by managing risk factors, and supporting their recovery journey.

He earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon, and completed an internal medicine internship and research fellowship at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He then completed an internal medicine internship and neurology residency at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he also was elected chief neurology resident. Dr. Yaghi went on to complete two years of fellowship training in advanced vascular neurology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.

Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Vascular Neurology, Dr. Yaghi is a fellow of the American Heart Association, active on its Stroke Council, and a member of the American Academy of Neurology.

A prolific researcher, he has authored or contributed to over 400 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters, serves as a reviewer for several medical journals, and sits on the editorial board of the journal, Stroke. His research focuses on intracranial atherosclerosis, cervical artery dissection, cerebral venous thrombosis, and expanding the indications of acute stroke therapy.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time at the beach, playing soccer, and running outdoors.
